PALO, Leyte – Eastern Visayas on Thursday deployed 172 responders, mostly policemen, to help victims of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami) in the Bicol region. Of the number, 150 are personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP), 16 from the Bureau of Fire Protection, and six from the Philippine Coast Guard. PNP Eastern Visayas Regional Director Brig. CEBU CITY – Strong winds brought about by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami) pushed a cargo vessel ashore and ran aground in a coastal town of Minglanilla, a coast guard officer here reported on Thursday. Manila: Elderly residents in the country’s capital city will see their monthly allowance from the city government double starting next year. Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna on Thursday signed Ordinance 9081, increasing the monthly cash benefit of the city’s senior citizens from the present PHP500 to PHP1,000 effective January 2025. The payout will start in March 2025, as the cash allowance will be distributed every quarter.
