KUALA LUMPUR, The Agriculture and Food Security Ministry (MAFS) will ensure adequate supply of vegetables following the Northeast Monsoon (MTL) phase, which usually occurs in several states towards the end of the year. KUALA LUMPUR, Padiberas Nasional Berhad (Bernas) has signed a cooperation note with the Department of Chemistry Malaysia (KIMIA Malaysia) to conduct interlaboratory comparisons (ILC) and proficiency testing for rice grading activities. According to a joint statement by Bernas and KIMIA Malaysia today, the cooperation note was signed by Bernas Group chief executive officer Zulkiflee Abdul Rahman and KIMIA Malaysia’s director-general, Marhayani Md Saad. PUTRAJAYA, The Malaysian Standards Department (JSM) hopes the batik industry will use its updated Malaysian Standard (MS) 692 specification to produce quality products. In conjunction with World Standards Day, the department held a consultation session today with industry players in Kota Bahru on the MS. KUALA LUMPUR, The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed lower on Monday despite the better underlying cash market’s performance. Spot month October 2024 shed 4.5 points to 1,633.50, November 2024 and March 2025 slid 3.0 points to 1,637.50 and 1,629.0, respectively, while December 2024 fell 4.0 points to 1,640. Turnover decreased to 5,984 lots from 6,258 last Friday, while open interest narrowed to 46,388 contracts from 46,608 previously.
