New PPS Opens To Accommodate Flood Victims In Kedah

ALOR SETAR, Another flood relief centre (PPS) was opened in the Kubang Pasu district early today, bringing the number of flood victims in Kedah to 243 people, involving 59 families, from 207 people (49 families) last night. According to the Social Welfare Department’s (JKM) Info Bencana, the PPS was opened at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Changlun to accommodate 36 flood victims from 10 families. KLUANG, A total of 8.89 per cent of the eligible voters in the Mahkota by-election have cast their ballots as of 9 am today, according to the Election Commission (EC). All the 20 polling centres involving 109 channels were opened simultaneously at 8 am for the 61,274 eligible voters to fulfil their responsibility of electing the new state assemblyman. The weather was good and checks by Bernama at several polling centres showed that voting was proceeding smoothly. KLUANG, The Orang Asli were among the early birds who fulfilled their responsibilities in the Mahkota state by-election today. The Tok Batin of Kampung Tanah Runtuh here, Mohd Noorsham Abdullah, 49, said he got up as early as 6 am and got the villagers together to go to the polls. “We came in a group of 15 people. Fuel Subsidy, Cost Of Living Allowance Should Benefit All Fishermen – NEKMAT

KUALA LUMPUR, The National Fishermen’s Association (NEKMAT) hopes the 2025 Budget, to be tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim next month, will continue to provide petrol and diesel subsidies, as well as the cost of living allowance to the fishing community. Chairman of NEKMAT Board of Directors, Abdul Hamid Bahari said this is to ensure the fishermen can cover the cost of their daily operations and continue to improve their standard of living. “NEKMAT has almost 100,000 members and we hope that the government can continue to provide subsidised petrol and diesel to them, including in Sabah and
