An official of the Regional Development Council (RDC-7) on Tuesday said local government units (LGUs) in Central Visayas should pass ordinances adopting stringent requirements before approving permits for development in protected areas. Kenneth Cobonpue, co-chair of the RDC-7, said the body is initiating the adoption of more stringent measures to ensure the sustainable use and development of resources in all 24 protected areas spread across the Central Visayas region. He said the provincial governments of Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor should adopt measures requiring municipalities and component cities whose territory has existing protected areas to strengthen Special Use Agreements.

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) targets to finish the construction of 10,342 vertical housing units in the Ilocos Region under the Pambansang Pabahay ng Pangulo Program (4PH) by the second quarter of 2025. Bulk of the housing units will be in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte at 2,600 units and followed by the 2,560 in Urdaneta City; 2,412 in Malasiqui town; 1,600 in San Fabian town; 882 in Alaminos City; and 288 in Asingan town, all in Pangasinan.
