PUTRAJAYA, The Department of Fisheries Malaysia (DOF) is accelerating digital technology and automation use in its administrative and operational processes. This includes implementing e-services to facilitate fishing licence matters, monitoring and enforcement, and data collection. Director-General Datuk Adnan Hussain said DOF will also expand digital platforms used in interaction with fishermen, aquaculture operators and the fishing industry to help improve transparency, service efficiency and reduce processing time and bureaucracy. He said efforts to improve DOF operations aligned with the public service reforms announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the Public Service Prime Minister’s Council (MAPPA) last August.

PUTRAJAYA, The abuse of tourist visas by foreign nationals has been identified as a key factor in ‘counter setting’ activities at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 (KLIA1) and Terminal 2 (KLIA2). According to a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) source, groups of foreign nationals, particularly from Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, and several other countries, have been found entering Malaysia by circumventing the Foreign Workers Centralised Management System. “This widespread abuse of tourist visas for illegal employment has been identified as a significant issue, providing opportunities for foreign nationals to enter and work in the country,” the source stated today. IPOH, The situation in flood-hit areas in Perak has fully recovered and the temporary evacuation centre (PPS) at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Changkat Lobak was closed at 2 pm today. Kerian District Officer Saidi Shaari, who is also Kerian District Disaster Management Committee (JBPD) chairman, said in a statement that the decision was made after joint monitoring by various agencies found that the affected areas were safe and all flood victims had returned to their homes.
