DPWH-Bicol’s P49-M project shields Sorsogon villagers from flood

LEGAZPI CITY – A PHP49-million flood control project of the Department of Public Works and Highways-Bicol (DPWH-5) now safeguards residents in Gubat, Sorsogon, especially during bad weather. In a statement on Wednesday, DPWH-5 Regional Director Virgilio Eduarte said the 320-meter flood control project shields a populated area of Barangay Tabi from the destructive impact of seasonal flooding. ‘Before the project’s completion, typhoon and monsoon rains would cause the overflow of the river in the area, freely flooding adjacent riverside and agricultural lands. Our dike now prevents this destruction from happening,’ Eduarte said. He said the project was completed last June
