KUALA LUMPUR, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi congratulated national singles badminton player Lee Zii Jia for winning the country’s second bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics tonight. He said the 26-year-old proved his commitment in securing the bronze for his country and that his spirit remained unbowed after he failed to progress to the finals. ‘Congratulations to national singles player Zii Jia who managed to gift Malaysia our second bronze medal. ‘We are very proud with LZJ’s great performance just now. KUALA LUMPUR, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is assisting national artiste Safiah Ibrahim, who is reportedly suffering from cataracts that are impairing her vision. In a Facebook post, Anwar shared that his Political Secretary, Ahmad Farhan Fauzi, delivered a contribution on his behalf this morning. ‘She (Safiah) needs to undergo eye surgery promptly to prevent unwanted complications. ‘Therefore, Farhan has presented a contribution on my behalf to help alleviate her medical expenses,’ he stated. (FFCCCII) is mourning the death of Philippine cinema icon Lily Yu-Chu Monteverde, fondly called “Mother Lily” in the movie industry. Monteverde, who died on Aug. 4, was an entrepreneur and philanthropist in the Filipino-Chinese community. She would’ve turned 85 on Aug. 19.
