MANILA: The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) will stage the first Film Education Convention (FilmEC) on Sept. 17 to 18 at the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. Aside from screening short films by students, the FilmEC will gather industry and academe stakeholders for panel discussions, plenary talks, as well as film book sales. ‘The FDCP has put together the FilmEC, to gather both teachers and students of film to converge, get to know one another and engage in conversations that will break barriers of language or institutional representation,’ FDCP chairman Jose Javier Reyes said in a statement.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the distribution of various government assistance in a ceremony in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan on Thursday. MALASIQUI: The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has allocated PHP1.9 billion for the Tulong Panghanap-buhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) and PHP89 million for the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) in the Ilocos Region this year. In a phone interview Thursday, DOLE-llocos Region information officer Jenny Mapile said about PHP18 million has been used under the DILP from January to June this year as assistance to some 1,068 beneficiaries, who were given livelihood opportunities and training.
