Manila: A total of 200 public transportation drivers plying different routes in Antique submitted to a surprise drug test under the “Oplan Harabas 2025” on Wednesday. ‘Oplan Harabas ensures the safety of the commuters during the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day observance,’ said Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Provincial Officer, Intelligence Agent V Maria Melinda Panaguiton. This is to ensure that the drivers are drug-free, she said.
According to Philippines News Agency, joining the activity, held at the Funda Dalipe transport terminal here, were personnel of the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board, provincial and local government units, and the San Jose municipal police.
Meanwhile, municipal police chief, Maj. Geremy Ian Magbanua, said they have deployed police mobile patrols to seven cemeteries in the municipality to ensure the safety of those visiting the tombs of their loved ones. ‘We will be setting up police assistance desks (PADs) in front of the cemeteries from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2,’ he said, adding that PAD personnel are ready to assist the public while ensuring the peaceful observance of the Undas.
He also reminded the public that by Oct. 31, there will be no more cleaning of tombs, and deadly or bladed weapons will be confiscated. ‘Alcoholic drinks are also prohibited at the cemetery,’ Magbanua said.
