10K Cops Deployed in NCR for Holy Week and Summer Vacation Security

Manila: More than 10,000 police officers and force multipliers will be deployed across Metro Manila to ensure public safety during the Holy Week and summer vacation, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) announced Saturday.

According to Philippines News Agency, strong police presence will be established at 300 churches with 1,071 officers, along major roads managing traffic with 791 officers, at transport hubs ensuring smooth journeys with 399 officers, in malls and business centers with 592 officers, and in parks and recreational spaces with 982 officers. These are among the security plans outlined by NCRPO Director Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin in a news release.

The deployment is set to begin on April 14. To further secure Metro Manila, 286 officers will be stationed at entry points, 647 at checkpoints, and over 2,000 on foot patrol in strategic locations across the city. Additionally, nearly 2,000 mobile and motorcycle units will patrol city streets to enhance visibility and response capabilities.

Covert teams will conduct security assessments, and a Reactionary Standby Support Force will be on alert for emergencies. “We will have 24/7 security coverage. Our target is to secure key locations, from serene places of worship to bustling transport terminals and busy commercial areas,” Aberin stated.

He urged officers to remain alert and focused, adding that senior NCRPO officials, including himself, will be on the ground to oversee operations. Aberin also reminded the public to stay cautious and help maintain security in their communities.
