Work Stoppage Ordered at BGC Site After Construction Worker’s Death

Taguig city: The Department of Labor and Employment-National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) has issued a work stoppage order (WSO) against the contractor of a construction site in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City, following a fatal accident that resulted in the death of a construction worker and injuries to several others earlier this week.

According to Philippines News Agency, DOLE-NCR Director Sarah Buena Mirasol confirmed that the WSO was issued on Tuesday. “Yes, on Oct. 21, 2025, DOLE-NCR issued Work Stoppage Order against the contractors for the installation of vertical reinforcement bar at the construction site,” she stated in a text message to the Philippine News Agency on Wednesday.

The DOLE official clarified that the order specifically targets the area where the accident took place last Monday. “WSO is in effect until lifted, but it does not cover all activities in the construction site,” Mirasol explained. “The WSO directed the contractors to stop the installation of vertical reinforcement bar only.”

Furthermore, the contractors have been summoned for a mandatory conference at the DOLE-NCR field office in Las Pi±as City on Thursday. The fatal accident, which involved the collapse of an elevator core wall, occurred on October 20 at the construction site in Taguig City.
