Vivant Plans PHP67-B Investment for Energy and Water Infrastructure by 2030

Cebu: Vivant Corporation has announced plans to invest PHP67 billion in energy and water infrastructure projects by 2030, with a significant focus on renewable energy (RE) initiatives. Around 90 percent of the investment will be directed towards the energy sector, as the company aims to support the government's push for energy sufficiency through renewable sources.

According to Philippines News Agency, Vivant Corp. Chief Executive Officer Arlo Sarmiento shared during a recent briefing that the company targets a 1,000 megawatt (MW) capacity by the end of the decade. Of this capacity, 78 percent will be dedicated to renewable energy projects, reflecting Vivant's strategy to diversify its energy portfolio and address the country's energy needs. The remaining PHP7 billion will be allocated to Vivant's water business, focusing primarily on bulk water supply projects.

Sarmiento emphasized the company's vision to establish Vivant as a leading power company with a significant presence in the water sector. Currently, the conglomerate boasts nearly 500 MW in generating capacity and 25 million liters per day in bulk water supply and distribution. Last year, Vivant achieved a record-high consolidated core net income of PHP2.7 billion, marking a 21 percent increase from the previous year.

Despite last year's strong performance, Sarmiento acknowledged the challenges ahead, including geopolitical pressures, market shifts, supply chain disruptions, western price volatility, elevated inflation, and the weakening Philippine peso. These factors necessitate a proactive risk management approach to ensure operational continuity and resilience.

Sarmiento also highlighted the company's commitment to its core values, which guide Vivant's growth and strengthen its ability to deliver exceptional services that enhance everyday living. The focus on long-term contracts and market stability is crucial to insulating Vivant's portfolio from volatility, ensuring the company's continued success in the energy and water sectors.
