Romualdez Camp Urges PGMN to Face Charges in Court, Not on Social Media

Manila: The camp of former Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez on Thursday urged personalities linked to Peanut Gallery Media Network (PGMN) to answer the charges against them before the court. Speaking to reporters after the hearing, Romualdez's lawyer, Elaine Atienza, stressed that their camp has deliberately refrained from discussing the case's details publicly out of respect for the judicial proceedings.

According to Philippines News Agency, Atienza conveyed their confidence in the strength of their case and evidence, emphasizing that the court is the proper forum for addressing these matters. She highlighted that they would not engage in speculation or litigate the case through social media despite online claims attacking the complaint and evidence.

Atienza also dismissed attempts to frame the controversy as an attack on press freedom. She encouraged individuals with grievances to report to authorities while adhering to due process. Additionally, she reminded all parties involved to exercise restraint and avoid discussing the case's merits on media or social media platforms.

Reiterating the judiciary's role in determining truth and accountability, Atienza urged the public to be cautious about social media narratives, stressing that the court will ultimately decide the case. She confirmed that while Romualdez was unable to attend the hearing, he remains willing to comply with any court requirements.

Atienza concluded by stating that the case would be decided based on evidence, law, and the courts, not by social media theatrics.
