Typhoon Domeng Weakens as It Prepares to Leave Philippine Area of Responsibility

Manila: Typhoon Domeng slightly weakened and is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at noon on Monday, the weather bureau said. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Domeng packs maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, and gustiness of up to 150 kph. It was last tracked at 710 km northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, moving northward at 20 kph.

According to Philippines News Agency, no wind signal is hoisted on any part of the country, but Domeng enhances the southwest monsoon, causing strong to gale-force gusts across Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Panay Island, and Negros Occidental. Meanwhile, PAGASA noted that the southwest monsoon will also cause heavy rainfall in Occidental Mindoro, Zambales, and Bataan.
