Malaca±ang: Malaca±ang has deemed it premature to engage in discussions about forming a new political alliance akin to the UniTeam, which supported President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during the 2022 presidential elections.
According to Philippines News Agency, the statement came in response to a suggestion by former senator Antonio Trillanes IV that Marcos loyalists should consider forming a coalition with the 'Kakampinks' of former vice president Maria Leonor 'Leni' Robredo to challenge the Dutertes in the 2028 elections. In a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro mentioned that this proposal has not yet been presented to President Marcos.
Castro clarified, "Wala pa pong napag-uusapan patungkol po diyan. Hindi pa po nababanggit sa Pangulo ito," indicating that there have been no discussions or mentions of this topic to the President. When questioned about the Palace's openness to collaborating with opposition members or former election adversaries, Castro refrained from commenting.
She added that it is premature to express any stance on such matters. "Wala po tayong masasabi sa ngayon. Maybe it's too early to comment on that," Castro stated.
Maria Leonor 'Leni' Robredo, who served as the 14th Vice President of the Philippines from 2016 to 2022 during the Duterte administration, ran for presidency in the 2022 elections but was defeated by Marcos.
