Visayas: Five transmission lines in the Visayas and Mindanao are currently unavailable due to Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi), the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said. These include the Maasin-Baybay 69kV Line that caters to the Leyte IV Electric Cooperative Inc. (LEYECO IV); the Ormoc-San Isidro 69kV line that supplies the Don Orestes Romualdez Electric Cooperative, Inc. (DORELCO) in Tolosa, Leyte, the Southern Leyte Electric Cooperative Inc. (SOLECO), the LEYECO III, and the LEYECO V; and the Ormoc-Baybay 69kV line that services LEYECO IV and LEYECO V.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Maasin-San Isidro 69kV Line that services the Southern Leyte Electric Cooperative (SOLECO), and the Placer-Madrid 69kV line that supplies the Surigao del Norte Electric Cooperative (SURNECO), Siargao Electric Cooperative (SIARELCO), and Surigao del Sur II Electric Cooperative (SURSECO II) are also affected. NGCP said that one 38kV and one 350kV line are also currently unavailable, but there is no information on the areas served.
The NGCP has assured power consumers that it has mobilized its line crews and is currently conducting patrols. ‘Simultaneous restoration activities are also being conducted in areas already accessible,’ according to the NGCP report.
Based on the 5 a.m. bulletin of the weather bureau, the center of the eye of Tino was last estimated over the coastal waters of San Francisco, Cebu, moving westward at 25 km/hr and packing maximum sustained winds of 150 km/hr near the center and gustiness of up to 205 km/hr.
