Singapore: Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. will take part in the 23rd Asia Security Summit of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), known as the Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD), to be held in Singapore on May 29-31.
According to Philippines News Agency, Teodoro will deliver a plenary talk on "Evolving Security Partnerships in a Fragmenting World," with discussions expected to focus on emerging security dynamics, partnerships, and approaches to addressing security challenges. In addition to his plenary talk, Teodoro will engage in high-level discussions with counterparts and stakeholders on mutual interests and regional security cooperation.
Last year, Teodoro delivered remarks on 'Cross-Regional Security Interlinkages,' where he referenced President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s keynote address at the 2024 Shangri-La Dialogue. His remarks emphasized the importance of a rules-based international order in maintaining regional stability and prosperity.
The SLD serves as a premier Indo-Pacific defense summit, gathering defense ministers, military leaders, policymakers, and security experts. This summit aims to discuss key regional and global security issues and strengthen dialogue on evolving defense and strategic concerns.
