Shooting Near Taguig School Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

Taguig city: The Philippine National Police (PNP) will investigate a shooting in front of a school in Taguig City that resulted in the death of one individual and the injury of another. The incident occurred on Monday and has prompted a call for public restraint in speculating about the details of the case.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Southern Police District (SPD) has urged the public to allow authorities to establish the facts based on available evidence and verified information. PNP spokesperson and information chief Col. Allen Rae Co stated at a press briefing held at Camp Crame in Quezon City, "We do not have the complete information yet about it. We will have to verify and validate this information and rest assured that we will be providing it with the complete details once it has been verified."

Initial reports describe the suspect as an unidentified male wearing a black helmet, blue sweatshirt, and white pants, who was reportedly driving a gray motorcycle. The suspect fired shots around 6:25 a.m. along Pulong Kendi Street in Barangay Sta. Ana. Personnel from Taguig Sub-Station 4 quickly responded to the scene upon receiving the report and secured the area.

The shooting resulted in two individuals being wounded at the scene. The SPD later confirmed that a 40-year-old male was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital, while a 21-year-old male is still receiving treatment. Authorities are conducting closed-circuit television forward and backtracking operations, intelligence validation, and follow-up investigations to understand the circumstances surrounding the shooting and to locate the suspect.
