Manila: The Quezon City government is stepping up its flu prevention campaign as cases of influenza-like illness (ILI) rise, urging residents to immediately seek medical consultation once they experience flu-like symptoms. In a social media post Thursday, the QC Epidemiology and Surveillance Division (QCESD) said it has logged an 84-percent increase in ILI cases from Jan. 1 to Nov. 11 with 2,613 cases, from 1,420 cases during the same period in 2024.
According to Philippines News Agency, ILI mostly affected children 14 years old and below with 1,640 cases, and adults 55 years old and above with 268 cases. The most cases of ILI this year were reported in District 4 with 749 cases.
To address the rising number of cases, the city government has strengthened its health information campaign and urged residents to practice regular hygiene, wear masks when experiencing symptoms, disinfect surroundings, and avoid crowded places. The QCESD said the city government is also intensifying its monitoring and prevention efforts, with all health centers on alert.
‘Our health centers are open from Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., ready to assist anyone showing signs of flu or other respiratory illnesses,’ it said.
