PSA Expands National ID Registration to Antique’s Island Barangays

Manila: The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has extended its mobile national identification (ID) registration services to island barangays in Culasi, Antique province.

According to Philippines News Agency, PSA-Antique Registration Officer 3, Chariza Misajon, stated in an interview that the mobile registration was conducted in the island barangay of Maniguin, Culasi, on October 28-29. During this two-day event, 74 individuals registered, including 40 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

The PSA plans to hold a similar initiative in Batbatan, another island barangay in Culasi, on November 6. This event aims to register approximately 309 individuals, who are also 4Ps beneficiaries. Misajon highlighted the importance of these mobile registrations, emphasizing that without them, 4Ps beneficiaries and other island residents would need to travel to the PSA provincial office in San Jose de Buenavista or await the mobile registration schedule on the Culasi mainland.

The mobile registration service offers residents without any form of identification an opportunity to obtain a national ID. This ID can be used for official transactions and to seek assistance from government agencies. Additionally, household members enrolled in the 4Ps who lack birth certificates can utilize the national ID to claim their cash grants.

Furthermore, the PSA conducted a mobile registration at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in San Jose de Buenavista on October 20, where 59 persons deprived of liberty were registered.
