Power Interruption Scheduled at NAIA Terminal 3 for Electrical Upgrade

Pasay city: A power interruption is scheduled at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in Pasay City from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 3 a.m. Wednesday as part of electrical upgrades. In an advisory, operator New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) said selected boarding bridges, partial lighting in certain areas, and selected escalators and elevators may be unavailable during this period.

According to Philippines News Agency, the NNIC assured that flights will continue as scheduled. Essential services such as check-in, immigration, security screening, and baggage handling will remain operational through temporary power, the NNIC added. "Our airport teams will be on standby throughout the activity to assist passengers and ensure safe and smooth terminal operations," the NNIC said.

To recall, a power outage hit Terminal 3 in September 2022, resulting in the delay of at least 31 flights, manual check-in and loading of baggage, and longer processing at immigration counters. Another power interruption hit the same terminal in June 2023, causing the cancellation of seven flights as well as long queues at immigration.

The airport management has been scheduling power maintenance works to ensure integrity in operations.
