Power Firm Plans New Substations and AI Expansion to Enhance Services

Iloilo: More Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) is set to implement smarter technology as it broadens its service area beyond this city, aiming to improve services for its clients.

According to Philippine News Agency, MORE Power President and CEO Roel Castro announced the development of additional programs that will provide direct benefits to consumers once the upgrades to substations and primary distribution lines are completed.

Castro highlighted that new customer programs are planned for launch and improvement this year in Iloilo and other expansion areas, ensuring excellent service delivery. He emphasized that the quality of service justifies the electricity rates paid by consumers, while maintaining competitive pricing.

The company's significant projects include the construction of additional substations, complementing its current eight substations with a combined capacity of 252.2 megavolt amperes. A new substation is expected to be operational by the end of the year. MORE Power is also exploring the expanded use of artificial intelligence (AI) for data collection and analytics via centralized servers.

The utility company is evaluating the implementation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure, which would enable consumers to monitor their energy usage more efficiently. This technology would allow for instantaneous service reconnections through the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, eliminating long wait times.

Moreover, MORE Power plans to diversify its energy mix by incorporating more renewable sources, with the objective of keeping electricity prices affordable. The company commenced its expansion activities in the second district during the latter part of 2025, facilitating electrical connections for the University of St. La Salle campus in Pavia. Future expansions are planned for the municipalities of San Miguel and Sta. Barbara.
