Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed blogger Rey Joseph 'RJ' Nieto, popularly known on social media as 'Thinking Pinoy', as assistant secretary in the Office of the Cabinet Secretary. Malaca±ang confirmed Nieto's appointment, with Executive Secretary Ralph Recto signing his appointment paper on September 1.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Office of the Cabinet Secretary is currently headed by Secretary Benhur Abalos. In response to his new position, Nieto expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the government but acknowledged feeling 'a little scared'. "I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve the Filipino people, but I am also aware that this is a difficult time for the country," he shared in a social media post.

Nieto first gained prominence as a political commentator in 2015 through his blog, Thinking Pinoy, which amassed a considerable following on social media. His platform focused on political commentary and current events, contributing to his rise as an influential figure in the political blogging community.
