BIR Intensifies Crackdown on Illicit Vape and Tobacco Ahead of Holiday Season

Manila: The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is ramping up efforts to combat the proliferation of illicit vape and tobacco products ahead of the Christmas season.

According to Philippines News Agency, Commissioner Charlito Mendoza stated that the BIR is receiving intelligence and market information about the increased risk of illicit vape and tobacco products entering the market as holiday demand picks up. Enforcement teams are already on high alert to address this issue.

Regional and enforcement offices have been instructed to intensify monitoring of suspected production sites, warehouses, distribution channels, and retail outlets. They have been directed to coordinate operations whenever necessary to ensure effective enforcement.

The BIR is also calling on legitimate industry players, retailers, and the public to provide information on any suspected illegal manufacture, storage, distribution, or sale of vape and tobacco products.
