PNP Seeks Tech-Savvy Recruits to Enhance Modern Policing

Manila: The Philippine National Police (PNP) is elevating its recruitment standards to address the evolving demands of contemporary law enforcement. In a recent statement, PNP acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. emphasized the organization’s focus on attracting applicants who are not only physically ready but also possess digital competence and analytical skills.

According to Philippines News Agency, this initiative is part of the PNP’s strategy to fulfill its 2025 Attrition Quota by ensuring that future officers are equipped to operate effectively in a digital environment. Nartatez highlighted the need for officers capable of contributing to the agency’s efforts in cybercrime investigation, digital forensics, and information and communications technology.

Nartatez stated that the PNP, in collaboration with the National Police Commission, is actively seeking professionals with expertise in computer science, engineering, information systems, and data analytics. This move aims to bolster the capabilities of the PNP’s cybercrime units, digital investigations, and command center operations.

PNP spokesperson and public information chief Brig. Gen. Randulf Tua±o had previously announced that there are 6,500 available positions across 17 regional offices and various support units. Applicants may submit their requirements either at local police stations or through online platforms.

In his assurance to the public, Nartatez mentioned that the recruitment process will adhere to a digitized and merit-based selection system. This approach is designed to eradicate the ‘padrino’ culture, which involves influence or backer bias, ensuring a fair and unbiased hiring process.
