Camarines sur: The Philippine National Police (PNP) has deployed a specialized team to investigate the case of an 11-year-old girl from Camarines Sur who appealed to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for protection against an alleged abusive village official. PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. stated that the Women and Children's Protection Center (WCPC) is responsible for handling the case and collecting evidence to determine potential charges.
According to Philippines News Agency, the President received a letter dated March 30 from the girl, who is under the care of Redeemer Homeless Mission in Tinambac. In her letter, the girl detailed allegations of rape by the village official's son and aide, as well as threats and harassment against children. She pleaded for protection and the opportunity to continue her education, citing that they are being targeted despite having no political affiliations.
President Marcos expressed that the letter deeply moved him, leading to both anger and tears. He promised police protection, a thorough investigation, and educational support for the victims. He also commended the girl's bravery and assured continued government assistance.
PNP chief Nartatez emphasized the President's directive, stating, "The President's order is clear: no one is above the law, regardless of their position in the government." He encouraged other victims to come forward and seek help, reinforcing the commitment to justice and protection for all affected individuals.
