PNP Chief Celebrates High Trust Rating as Reform Efforts Gain Traction

Manila: Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. welcomed the results of the latest nationwide 'Boses ng Bayan' Index of Governance (IOG) survey released recently by RPMD Foundation Inc. as it recognized him as one of the highest-rated government officials in the country.

According to Philippines News Agency, the survey, conducted from April 1 to 8, 2026, with 5,000 respondents, showed that Nartatez received an overall governance score of 78.8 percent, along with a 78.5 percent trust rating and 79.1 percent performance rating.

Nartatez stated that this reflects strong public approval of the PNP's peace and order efforts and ongoing reforms under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

He emphasized that the recent governance and trust ratings are an affirmation of the collective efforts of the Philippine National Police in serving the public with integrity and professionalism, highlighting that it is not just a personal achievement.

Nartatez pointed out that the result underscores the organization's ongoing responsibility to maintain public confidence as reform programs expand across local police units and community engagement initiatives are strengthened nationwide.

Expressing gratitude for public trust, he reiterated the continuing responsibility to improve service, enhance accountability, and ensure fairness, respect for human rights, and genuine public service in every police action.

He clarified that the reforms will focus on sustained community policing programs and stricter accountability mechanisms to uphold credibility and public confidence.

Nartatez directed relevant units to intensify barangay-level engagement and strengthen internal disciplinary measures, aiming to sustain public trust and translate survey gains into long-term institutional performance improvements.
