PNP Acquires PHP506-M in New Equipment for Enhanced Capability

Manila: The modernization of the Philippine National Police (PNP) received a significant boost on Wednesday with the acquisition of more than PHP506 million worth of mobility and protective equipment.

According to Philippines News Agency, the newly procured assets, including protective gear, will be distributed to police units nationwide, as stated by PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., who led the blessing ceremony at Camp Crame. Under the Capability Enhancement Program (CEP) for fiscal year 2025, the PNP received equipment valued at PHP244,710,956, which includes 800 sets of Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) equipment, 3,711 all-purpose waistcoat vests, 600 sets of non-lethal equipment, and 403 automated night vision devices.

Meanwhile, the Congress-Introduced Changes and Adjustments (CICA) for fiscal year 2024 provided additional assets worth PHP262,285,700. These include 117 units of personnel carrier 4x4 vehicles and 71 light motorcycles, aimed at enhancing mobility, protection, and operational readiness. "These will enhance the capability of our police units to prevent focus crimes in their respective areas," Nartatez told reporters in an interview.

He added that the equipment would be immediately utilized, especially during the upcoming peak travel season. Nartatez also mentioned that additional equipment, including motorcycles and body-worn cameras, is expected in the coming months courtesy of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
