Cagayan de oro: The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has unveiled a commemorative postage stamp to mark the 75th charter anniversary of Cagayan de Oro City. In a news release on Wednesday, PHLPost said the commemorative stamp pays tribute to Cagayan de Oro's enduring contributions to the country's historical, cultural, and economic landscape.
According to Philippines News Agency, the stamp features the historic Executive Building, a prominent landmark built in 1940 on the site of the former Casa Real. This captures the "enduring spirit and historical significance of Cagayan de Oro City" as it celebrates 75 years of cityhood. The structure stands as a symbol of public service, good governance, resilience, and progress through the decades.
Jericho Valjusto Vamenta designed the commemorative stamp, while Jose Antonio Jayme did the layout. "Beyond their postal function, commemorative stamps serve as lasting records of people, places, and events that have shaped the nation," PHLPost said. "Postage stamps are more than collectibles; they are enduring records of our nation's heritage. Every stamp tells a story," it added.
