Philippines Issues Tsunami Warning After Powerful Quake Hits Russia

Manila: The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has issued a tsunami warning for residents in coastal regions facing the Pacific Ocean. This advisory comes in the wake of a powerful earthquake that recently struck Russia.

According to Nam News Network, revised magnitude calculations and tsunami wave models from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre indicate that the first tsunami waves are projected to reach the Philippine coast between 1:20 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. local time today. While the anticipated wave height is less than one metre, the advisory cautions that these waves might persist for several hours.
