Nakhon ratchasima: The Philippines reached the men's 3x3 wheelchair basketball semifinal after winning two games Monday in the 13th ASEAN Para Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. The Pilipinas Warriors, comprising captain Kenneth Tapia, Alfie Caba±og, Jannil Ca±ete, and Fel Lander Dawal, demolished the Indonesians, 20-3, and the Malaysians, 11-7.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippines is playing against host Thailand as of press time to determine the top seed. "In the first match, we had Alfie and Kenneth running the game very smoothly so we just left it. We got the chance to finish it early because we're expecting a close game against Malaysia, luckily we came out as winners," said head coach Vernon Perea.
In the women's division, the Philippines fell to Thailand, 12-14, and Laos, 5-8. With only three teams competing, the Pilipinas Lady Warriors must step up to reach the finals. "What we need is to beat Laos by four points if Thailand loses to them," said coach Harry Solanoy, adding that the last-placed squad will not get a medal.
