PH, Malaysia Armies Enhance Cooperation Through Bilateral Exercise

Geneva: The Philippine Army's 10th Infantry Division (10ID) and the Malaysian Army have commenced a 12-day bilateral exercise, Training Activity (TA) LAND MALPHI 24/2026, at Camp General Manuel T. Yan Sr. in Barangay Tuboran, Mawab.

According to Philippines News Agency, the exercise, which began on June 1 and runs until June 12, is designed to bolster defense cooperation between the two nations. It aims to enhance interoperability and improve battle staff planning capabilities through the sharing of best practices and operational experiences in territorial defense and security operations.

TA LAND MALPHI provides a critical platform for building mutual understanding and strengthening professional military relationships. It also aims to enhance the collective readiness of both armies to address shared security challenges and contribute to peace and stability in the region.

The exercise includes cross-training, tabletop exercises, and command post exercises. These activities are designed to improve combined operational effectiveness, strengthen professional competencies, and deepen military-to-military relations between the two forces.

The 10ID reported that the Malaysian Army delegation paid a courtesy call on 10ID commander Maj. Gen. Alvin Luzon, underscoring the strong ties and mutual commitment to defense cooperation. A symbolic donning of caps and armbands marked the opening ceremony, representing unity, operational readiness, and the enduring partnership among the participating forces.

Maj. Gen. Alvin Luzon highlighted the importance of such engagements, stating, "Through engagements such as this, we develop capable and adaptive forces that contribute to territorial defense, regional security, and lasting stability in our region."
