Manila: The Department of National Defense (DND) on Monday praised the recently renewed agreement between the Philippines and Italy on Cooperation in the Field of Defense as a significant move to enhance security relations between the two countries. The agreement aims to strengthen long-term capability development and improve interoperability based on mutual respect and strategic trust.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DND expressed its appreciation for Italy's increasing involvement in the Indo-Pacific Region. The department emphasized its anticipation for ongoing cooperation that will fortify maritime security, contribute to global stability, and advance mutual interests.

The agreement was signed by Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Theresa Lazaro, representing the Philippines, and Italian Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto during the Munich Security Conference in Germany on February 14.
