PH and Vietnam Strengthen Ties with Cybercrime Cooperation and Digital Transformation Pact

Manila: The Philippines and Vietnam are enhancing their collaboration to combat cyber-enabled crimes, including internet fraud, human trafficking, and illegal online activities, as the two nations deepen their partnership in the digital era.

According to Philippines News Agency, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Vietnamese President T´ LSm emphasized the pressing need for a unified approach to tackle significant cross-border challenges such as internet fraud, human trafficking, illegal gambling, and people smuggling. The two leaders convened at Malaca±ang during LSm's historic two-day state visit to Manila, which precedes the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Vietnam, set to be commemorated in July.

Marcos highlighted their agreement to address these issues decisively through enhanced intelligence sharing and coordinated law enforcement actions. This commitment was reinforced by the signing of a new memorandum of agreement on information technology and digital transformation between the two governments.

The pact extends beyond cybersecurity to include digital inclusion, e-governance, and emerging technologies. It was signed by the Philippines' Department of Information and Communications Technology and Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology.

Additionally, Marcos unveiled plans for joint initiatives in animation and game development, identifying these sectors as significant growth areas for the young and technology-savvy workforces of both countries.
