Pe±afrancia 2026: Naga City Declares Special Non-Working Holiday

Naga city: Under Presidential Proclamation 654, series of 2013, Friday has been declared a special non-working holiday in Naga City. 'The office of the mayor requested that every Friday immediately preceding the Pe±afrancia Festival be declared as a special day in the City of Naga, to strengthen the cultural and religious values of Nague±os,' the proclamation read.

According to Philippines News Agency, for the 2026 Pe±afrancia Festival, the special non-working holiday falls on Sept. 18, ahead of the major activities culminating in the Pe±afrancia Fluvial Procession along the Naga River on Sept. 19. The holiday comes as Naga City hosts thousands of devotees and visitors for this year's celebration honoring Our Lady of Pe±afrancia, the patroness of the Bicol Region.

The annual Pe±afrancia celebration is one of Bicol's major religious and cultural events, and the special-day declaration long recognizes its importance to the people of Naga City. Issued on Sept. 25, 2013, by then-president Benigno S. Aquino III, Proclamation 654 amended Proclamation 776, series of 1991. It provides that every Friday immediately preceding the Feast of Our Lady of Pe±afrancia shall be observed as a special day in Naga City.
