Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered the swift construction of four new buildings in government-run hospitals located in Metro Manila.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon stated that these new facilities are planned for the Philippine Children's Medical Center (PCMC), Philippine Cancer Center (PCC), Philippine General Hospital (PGH), and the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI).
Dizon emphasized that the President is prioritizing the construction of these medical facilities, ensuring that necessary funds have been allocated to expedite the process. "The President's commitment, regarding the funds needed to complete the PCC, PGH, and NKTI by 2028, is that all funds have been put in the budget," Dizon remarked during an inspection of the ongoing project at the NKTI.
Marcos has instructed Dizon to ensure the buildings are constructed to high standards to facilitate immediate use by patients. According to Dizon, the eight-storey building at PCMC is slated for opening by June. Meanwhile, the inaugural 20-storey Philippine Cancer Center is projected to be completed next year. Dizon plans to conduct an inspection at PGH next week.
