PBBM Forms Task Force for FIFA Futsal Hosting

Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has established an Inter-Agency Task Force to oversee the preparation, organization, and hosting of the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup (FFWWC) 2025 in the Philippines from November 21 to December 7.

According to Philippines News Agency, under Administrative Order (AO) 35, which was signed by President Marcos on July 30 and publicly disclosed on Friday, the task force will be led by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and co-led by the Department of the Interior and Local Government. The task force will include other key members such as the departments of tourism, foreign affairs, finance, budget, health, information and communications technology, public works, and transportation. Additional members include the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Immigration, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, National Bureau of Investigation, Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, and the Presidential Communications Office.

The task force has the option to invite other relevant government agencies, local government units (LGUs), non-government organizations, civil society groups, the academe, and other stakeholders as observers or resource persons to assist in preparing for the FFWWC 2025 hosting. The primary goals of hosting the FFWWC 2025 include advancing futsal development in the country, inspiring greater sports participation among Filipinos, enhancing the Philippines’ international sports reputation, and generating economic and tourism opportunities through this globally recognized event.

The successful hosting of the FFWWC 2025 requires the involvement and support of all relevant government agencies, including government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs), state universities and colleges (SUCs), LGUs, and the private sector. The task force is instructed to devise and execute plans, activities, and programs, including procuring necessary materials and equipment for the event’s success. It is also tasked with ensuring the coordination of all plans, programs, and activities related to hosting the FFWWC 2025.

AO 35 provides the task force with the authority to accept donations, contributions, grants, bequests, or gifts from domestic or foreign sources, pertinent to its mandates and functions, in compliance with relevant laws, rules, and regulations. All government departments, bureaus, offices, agencies, and instrumentalities, including GOCCs and SUCs, are mandated, and LGUs and the private sector are encouraged, to offer full support and assistance in the preparation, organization, and hosting of the FFWWC 2025. The necessary funding for implementing the order will be sourced from available funds of concerned agencies, adhering to existing budgeting, accounting, and auditing laws, rules, and regulations. AO 35 is effective immediately.
