Baler: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday spearheaded the ceremonial distribution of emergency cash transfer assistance to tourism workers affected by previous typhoons in Aurora. President Marcos said tourism workers are key partners in revitalizing Aurora’s local economy, which relies heavily on its natural attractions and hospitality sector.

According to Philippines News Agency, the event, held at the Baler Convention Center, was a joint effort by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Tourism (DOT). It is part of the ‘Bukas na May Pag-asa sa Turismo’ (BBMT) program, which provides immediate relief and sustainable support to tourism workers whose livelihoods have been disrupted by calamities.

Joining the President were DOT Secretary Christina Frasco, Department of Education Secretary Sonny Angara, DSWD Field Office-Central Luzon Director Venus Rebuldela, Aurora local chief executives, and youngest presidential son Vinny Marcos.

‘The strength of our tourism industry rests on our people. By extending help to our workers in times of disaster, we not only restore livelihoods but also sustain the growth of our communities,’ Marcos said.

Officials highlighted that the BBMT program is part of a broader government effort to ensure disaster-hit families, especially those in the tourism sector, can recover and rebuild. The cash aid distribution in Aurora marks one of the program’s significant rollouts in Central Luzon.
