Pangasinan State U Awards P2.2-M Incentives to Board Topnotchers

Pangasinan: The Pangasinan State University (PSU) released a total of PHP2.2 million cash incentives to the 26 topnotchers of two licensure exams for teachers and electrical engineers. According to Philippines News Agency, among the 25 topnotchers, Wednesday Nabor Ferrer from PSU Bayambang campus landed Top 2 with a rating of 95.00. She received PHP100,000 cash incentive from the university. 'PSU honed not only my academic prowess but also my character, helped me build myself, helped me grow to what I am now,' she said, adding that she followed the footsteps of her parents who are both educators.

The PSU gives cash incentives to their students who made it to the top 10 of the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC)-sanctioned examinations through the Board Topnotchers Awards. The cash incentives range from PHP80,000 to PHP100,000, and PHP500,000 for the top one. Galas added that PSU is the second in the country with the highest number of topnotchers in the March LEPT next to the Philippine Normal University with 33 topnotchers. From the March 2026 LEPT, the total number of new teachers from PSU is 1,769 -- 443 (Bachelor of Elementary Education) and 1,326 (Bachelor of Secondary Education).
