Manila: Malaca±ang announced on Tuesday that there are currently no proposals to establish artificial intelligence (AI) data centers in the Philippines. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro addressed the topic during a press briefing, stating that the envisioned Clark Advanced Manufacturing Park will not include the development of data centers.

According to Philippines News Agency, Castro clarified the government's stance following a recent statement by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The DTI had mentioned that plans are being explored to establish AI data centers under the Pax Silica initiative in areas outside New Clark City, which have more viable power and water supplies. However, any such developments remain speculative at this stage.

The DTI's earlier comments had also indicated that other economic zones across the country are being considered for integrated circuit design and advanced manufacturing. These zones could potentially house AI data centers in the future, but no concrete proposals have been submitted yet.

Castro emphasized that any project under the Pax Silica initiative, including potential data centers, must adhere to strict government and environmental regulations. She reiterated that all investment projects, regardless of whether they are part of the Pax Silica initiative, must undergo rigorous compliance checks.

Moreover, Castro pointed out that there are currently no proposals to establish data centers outside New Clark City as part of the Pax Silica initiative. She assured the public that any investment will be thoroughly vetted to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, particularly concerning environmental impact.
