PAF Helicopter Engaged in Typhoon Tino Damage Assessment Crashes in Agusan del Sur

Agusan del sur: A Philippine Air Force (PAF) helicopter deployed to assess damage following Typhoon Tino’s impact experienced an “air mishap” on Tuesday afternoon in Agusan del Sur. The incident occurred as the helicopter was conducting a rapid damage assessment needs analysis (RDANA) mission.

According to Philippines News Agency, the PAF confirmed that one of its ‘Super Huey’ helicopters encountered difficulties near the vicinity of the 60th Infantry Battalion. The helicopter was one in a group of four that had departed from Davao and was on its way to Butuan City when communication was lost, prompting an immediate search-and-rescue (SAR) operation.

The Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) issued a statement urging public understanding, prayers, and cooperation as efforts to locate the crew are ongoing. The PAF stated that a thorough investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Currently, the PAF is directing all resources towards the SAR operations, expressing hope for the safety of the pilots and crew involved in the mishap. Further details about the incident have not been disclosed as investigations continue.
