Tagbilaran city: Nearly PHP70 million worth of shabu was seized, and two individuals were arrested in a police buy-bust operation in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, late Tuesday night. In a statement Wednesday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said one of the suspects was classified as a high-value individual.
According to Philippines News Agency, authorities recovered about 10,285.6 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP69,942,080 during the operation conducted at 11:06 p.m. by the Bohol Police Provincial Office's Provincial Intelligence Unit and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, in coordination with the Tagbilaran City Police Station.
The suspects and seized evidence were immediately turned over to the Tagbilaran City Police Station for documentation and proper disposition. Charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against the suspects.
In a separate statement, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said it arrested 29 wanted persons and fugitives nationwide during the first five days of the year. Nine arrests were made in Luzon, eight in the Visayas, and 12 in Mindanao. The suspects face charges including murder, attempted murder, rape, statutory rape, theft, estafa, large-scale illegal recruitment, and inciting to sedition.
Of those arrested, 10 were listed as regional-level most wanted persons, eight as provincial-level most wanted, and one as a municipal or city-level most wanted person.
