NorMin Police Warns Public Against Fake Debt Collectors Via Text Messages

Cagayan de oro: The Police Regional Office (PRO) 10 in Northern Mindanao has issued a public warning about fraudulent groups or individuals posing as police officers to collect money or debts.

According to Philippines News Agency, Maj. Joann Navarro, the regional spokesperson, clarified that PRO-10 does not engage in sending text messages to warn or threaten individuals about unpaid debts or cases that may lead to arrest warrants. She emphasized that such practices are a scam, as the legitimate process of debt collection does not function in this manner.

Navarro further explained that only the courts have the authority to issue warrants, and individuals are properly informed through official documents, not through text messages. The PRO-10 is urging individuals who have received such threats to report to the nearest police stations for assistance, especially if they are considering legal action against the offenders.
