Davao city: The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have pledged to enhance their collaboration to expedite irrigation and infrastructure projects across Mindanao.
According to Philippines News Agency, Engr. Dexter Sablaon, NIA-11 acting regional manager, announced that they recently hosted the inaugural Mindanao-wide Assessment and Convergence Meeting with DPWH. This meeting was attended by NIA Administrator Eduardo Eddie Guillen and focused on improving coordination between the two agencies.
Sablaon explained that both NIA and DPWH have agreed to work together on projects focused on flood mitigation and water management infrastructure. These projects will be prioritized and accelerated to support farmers in Mindanao. He emphasized the importance of this collaboration to align projects and programs effectively, highlighting the need for teamwork in assisting farmers impacted by climate change.
NIA, as the leading agency in irrigation development, works alongside DPWH, which is responsible for public infrastructure. During the meeting, NIA Administrator Guillen confirmed the agency’s readiness to implement projects in the Mindanao region. Guillen assured that NIA’s engineers are available to present the agency’s projects to interested parties.
