Manila: Transmission services for the Maasin-San Isidro 69kV Line have been restored, but 19 other transmission lines are unavailable as of 5 p.m. Tuesday, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) reported.
According to Philippines News Agency, the restored transmission line caters to the Southern Leyte Electric Cooperative Inc. (SOLECO), as noted in a recent NGCP report. This restoration is a significant step in re-establishing power to the affected areas.
However, the situation remains challenging as 13 other 69kV lines are still down. Among these are the Maasin-Baybay Line serving the Leyte IV Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LEYECO IV); the Ormoc-San Isidro line, which provides electricity to Don Orestes Romualdez Electric Cooperative, Inc., Southern Leyte Electric Cooperative Inc. (SOLECO), LEYECO III, LEYECO V, and Biliran Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BILECO); and the Calongcalong-Asturias Line for the Cebu III Electric Cooperative (CEBECO III). The Compostela-Consolacion Line, servicing CEBECO II, is also affected.
Other affected lines include the Compostela-Carmen Line for CEBECO II; the Nabas-Culasi-Bugasong Line serving the Antique Electric Cooperative; the Amlan-San Carlos Line catering to Negros Oriental 1 Electric Cooperative (NORECO I) and NORECO II; and the Bacolod-San Enrique Line for Negros Electric and Power Corporation (NEPC) and Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative. The Bacolod-Silay-Victorias Line, Nabas-Sapian Line, Nabas-Unidos Line, and Bislig-Pob Barobo Line are also non-operational, impacting several electric cooperatives across the region.
NGCP reported that five 138kV lines and one 230kV line were unavailable as of the latest update. “NGCP has mobilized its line crews and is currently conducting patrols. Simultaneous restoration activities are also being conducted in areas already accessible,” the organization stated.
The number of affected transmission lines continues to rise as Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi) was spotted over the coastal waters of Magsaysay, Palawan, as of 7 p.m. The situation remains dynamic, and efforts are ongoing to restore power as swiftly as possible.
