Davao: Davao Light and Power Co. began construction on a new substation Thursday to support economic growth in this province. The 69-kilovolt facility in Barangay San Pedro will primarily serve the Anflo Industrial Estate and surrounding communities, with initial operations scheduled for June 2026.
According to Philippines News Agency, Engineer Enriczar Tia, Davao Light president, said the digital substation will feature automated monitoring and rainwater harvesting systems. “Davao Light remains a steadfast partner in the growth and development of the communities we serve,” Tia said during the groundbreaking ceremony.
The substation will be built in two phases, starting with 10 megavolt-amperes (MVA) of capacity and adding 33 MVA in 2027. Ricardo Lagdameo of Damosa Land Inc. said reliable power is critical for attracting investors to the industrial estate.
