New Legazpi City Police Chief Assumes Post, Aims for Enhanced Public Service

Legazpi city: Lt. Col. Domingo Tapel Jr. officially assumed his role as the new chief of police here Thursday, replacing Lt. Col. Ray Anthony Villanueva, who has been assigned to the Albay Provincial Police Office. “As the new chief of police, we will ensure that our 5-minute response time provides faster and more accessible services to the public,” he said in an interview.

According to Philippines News Agency, Tapel emphasized that the police force would carry out their mission with “dedication, discipline, and excellence.” He highlighted the importance of promoting professionalism, transparency, and accountability among officers in the performance of their duties. As Legazpi City serves as the regional site, Tapel expressed his commitment to exerting efforts to provide safety and security for both residents and visitors.

Tapel also discussed the ongoing implementation of programs, such as Manhunt Charlie, the anti-illegal drug campaign, and enhancements in police visibility, to prevent and solve crimes. He pledged to ensure the safety of the city’s residents across all 70 barangays.

A graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy Kaisang Bisig Class of 2009, Tapel brings a wealth of experience and commitment to his new role as he seeks to lead the police force in maintaining peace and order in Legazpi City.
