Nearly PHP10-M Worth of Illegal Drugs Seized in Bicol During Weeklong Operations

Bicol: The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) successfully confiscated nearly PHP10 million worth of illegal drugs during a series of anti-drug operations conducted over a week from July 28 to August 3. PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Nestor Babagay Jr. reported that the operations included 18 separate activities across the region, leading to the substantial seizure of illegal substances valued at PHP9,944,428.

According to Philippines News Agency, the operations involved two service of search warrants, 15 buy-bust operations, and an additional police-initiated activity. The efforts resulted in the arrest of 18 individuals, comprising three high-value targets, 14 street-level individuals, and one newly identified drug personality.

During these operations, authorities seized a total of 1,461.21 grams of shabu and 68 grams of marijuana. The province of Camarines Sur accounted for the largest share of the seized drugs, with a total value of PHP9.39 million. This was followed by Naga City, which reported drugs worth PHP348,040; Catanduanes with PHP204,000; Camarines Norte with PHP32,080; Sorsogon with PHP6,120; and Albay with PHP2,720. Notably, Masbate reported no illegal drug activity during the week.

Brig. Gen. Babagay emphasized the importance of strong coordination among police units and the support of the community in achieving these results. He reiterated the commitment of PRO-5 to continue their efforts until the goal of a drug-free Bicol is achieved.
