Manila: More than PHP94 million worth of illegal drugs were seized, and nearly 700 drug suspects were arrested in Metro Manila during the first 20 days of 2026.
According to Philippines News Agency, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) conducted 518 anti-drug operations during the period, resulting in the arrest of 673 suspects and the seizure of 13,772 grams of shabu and 2,125 grams of dried marijuana leaves, with an estimated standard value of PHP94,025,855.60.
NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin stated that the results indicate sustained pressure on the distribution of illegal drugs in communities. In addition to drug-related operations, NCRPO units carried out 113 operations against loose firearms, arresting 115 individuals and confiscating 114 unlicensed firearms.
Additionally, NCRPO conducted 448 anti-illegal gambling operations, leading to the arrest of 989 individuals and the seizure of PHP223,197.75 in bet money. At the community level, authorities apprehended 168,010 ordinance violators. Of these, 52,359 were fined, 871 were charged, and 114,948 were warned and released, generating PHP48.03 million in penalties.
"Our early accomplishments show the effectiveness of the Enhanced Managing Police Operations under the Focused Agenda of the PNP," Aberin said. "These results also reflect the discipline, coordination, and commitment of our personnel who remain on the ground every day to protect our communities."
