Manila: The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested an individual who figured in a viral road rage incident video and pretended to be an agent of the bureau.
According to Philippines News Agency, NBI Director Jaime Santiago identified the suspect as Jay Ar Cabana, who used the alias ‘Paul John Jimenez’, whose antics were featured in the program ‘Raffy Tulfo in Action.’ CCTV footage showed Cabana driving a black sports utility vehicle (SUV) turn on its emergency flashers while trying to avoid the motorcycle rider. The suspect’s SUV then rammed the motorcycle and its rider and tried to escape the scene. He showed an NBI badge on several occasions and claimed to be a member of the bureau and allegedly threatened the complainant’s life.
The NBI stated, “Per verification of NBI records, Paul John Jimenez is not in any way connected with the NBI, either as employee, job order worker or consultant.” Cabana has a standing warrant of arrest for syndicated estafa issued by the RTC Branch 55, Lucena, Quezon.
On July 24, the NBI served the warrant on his last known address and found several IDs, including a fake NBI ID and fake NBI wallet badge bearing the name Jimenez and his photo. Cabana was charged for violation of Article 177 of the Revised Penal Code (Usurpation of Authority), Article 179 of the Revised Penal Code (Illegal Use of Insignia) and the Anti-alias Law.
